Here is a direct quote:
With Super Street Fighter IV creating more buzz than a nest full of angry hornets, Hollywood has decided to give the Street Fighter movies another chance. Many of you may remember the horrible Street Fighter movie from the 90s, and the only slightly less horrible Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li. Well, now another movie is in the works about a character you probably wouldn’t expect.
Street Fighter: The Story of Dudley (in Japan, Street Fighter: The Gentleman’s Fist), will be an American made Street Fighter adaptation that tells of the gentlemanly British boxer Dudley, and his ongoing quest to serve his noble family and find his stolen car that he just can’t seem to keep track of. Plot details are still few and far between, but we do know that Dudley will meet up with some iconic Street Fighter faces in his travels.
There is no word on the director thus far, however, there is some word on possible casting options. Quentin “Rampage” Jackson, who will be playing B.A. Baracus, is one possibility. He has the perfect build to play the gentlemanly boxer. The question simply lies in whether or not he can pull off a mustachio. As for other characters, Mr. T is a possibility for the role of yet another iconic Street Fighter character, Balrog (in Japan, M. Bison). The movie will supposedly build to a climactic battle where these two boxers have to face off in the ring. Being that both of these characters will be in the same place at the same time, it makes sense that the movie will be set during the events of Super Street Fighter IV. Mr. T and Rampage hit off a friendship on the set of the new A-Team movie, so it would be awesome to see them together in this homage to Street Fighter boxers.
No word on what other Street Fighter characters will be appearing in the film, however rumors have been circulating about a possible casting call for characters such as Dee Jay, Zangief, Makoto, and of course Ryu and Ken. The movie is set to start filming in the summer of 2011, aiming for a possible 2013 release to coincide with the release of Hyper Street Fighter IV: Tournament Edition. Gamers who save their ticket stubs from the movie will apparently be able to redeem them for a DLC code that will grant them an exclusive Dudley costume, based off his appearance in the movie.
Takashi Tsukamoto, director for Street Fighter IV, will work closely with both the actors and director, in order to make this an authentic Street Fighter experience. Also, renowned players Justin Wong and Daigo Umehara will also be brought on as consultants. When Mr. T was asked for comment, he only said “I pity da April Fool!”
I hope you enjoyed that, I certainly did :)
